Bory Hospital, a.s.

Bory Hospital is a newly emerging next-generation hospital that introduces innovative technological solutions and a unique approach to patient care.

Location: Bratislava

Function: The most modern hospital in Slovakia, utilizing innovative approaches in patient treatment.

Capacity: 405 beds

Number of employees: 1400

Background:

The newly emerging next-generation hospital aimed from the very beginning to deliver the highest quality not only for patients but also for healthcare professionals.

To ensure efficiency and minimize errors, they wanted to implement the digitalization of all processes throughout the hospital environment.

Among other things, it was crucial to ensure flawless warehouse operations and establish clear navigation so that material transport requests were fulfilled and delivered to the right place on time and without errors.

Requirements:

  • Management of warehouse operations based on electronic orders from individual departments via the internal webshop

  • Collection of transport requests from multiple systems and real-time status overview (NIS, WMS, etc.)

  • Management and optimization of internal hospital logistics based on a time schedule

  • Tracking and confirmation of correct picking and receipt of goods/shipments

Our solution

The logistics and warehouse system for the next-generation hospital consists of two systems that we developed based on our extensive experience in Industry 4.0 to meet the customer’s needs.

The goal was to create an innovative integrated system that would significantly enhance logistics processes in the pilot project of the next-generation hospital, Bory Hospital. The system was tailor-made specifically to meet the hospital's requirements.

Warehouse System:

  • Comprehensive tracking of warehouse locations and movements of stored materials

  • Real-time inventory tracking and electronic picking list

  • The system allows picked goods to be placed in boxes, labeled, and automatically scheduled for transport in the logistics part of the system

  • Labeling with DataMatrix codes and the ability to scan product information using a mobile application (electronic delivery note)

Logistics System:

  • Management of transportation for specialized medical materials, medications, food, waste collection, and other commodities

  • Route optimization and clear navigation for logistics staff

  • Real-time overview of the status of logistics tasks

  • Delivery and collection based on a schedule within designated time slots

  • Aggregation of all requests from applications used within the hospital

Benefits:

  • Placement of goods based on turnover rate

  • Efficient use of warehouse space

  • Hands-free operations

  • Performance-based compensation (KPI-based rewards)

  • Reduction of warehouse stock levels

  • Operational management of goods, products, or other commodity transport

  • Clear navigation for logistics staff

  • Real-time overview of logistics task statuses

  • Delivery and collection according to a planned schedule within designated time slots

  • Aggregation of transport requests for carts and packages from all applications

  • Internal logistics management within the hospital

  • Clear shipment identification and the ability to confirm material handover with a signature directly on the device

Results:

  • 20% reduction in human resources

  • 25% reduction in the movement of warehouse staff and logistics personnel

  • 85% reduction in error rates

  • 80% reduction in training time for new logistics staff

The creation of a system for the needs of hospitals is another one of the healthcare systems in which M2M Solutions offers multiple products.

In the future, the system is expected to be implemented across the network of hospitals in the Svet Zdravia group. The system is multilingual, allowing for implementation in other Slovak and international hospitals and healthcare facilities. It is sufficiently general to be fully applicable in both private and public hospitals.
